Urad Dal Khichadi
Healthy Black Gram and Rice dish

Ingredients
1 Cup | Split Urad Dal With Husk |
1 Cup | Regular Thick Rice (No basmati) |
1 Teaspoon | Zeera (Cumin Seeds) |
1 Teaspoon | Garam Masala |
1 Tablespoon | Coriander Powder |
2 | Finely chopped green chillies or to taste |
1 Teaspoon | Garlic Paste |
1 Teaspoon | Ginger Paste |
3 Tablespoons | Cooking Oil (Of Your Choice) |
0.5 Teaspoon | Turmeric Powder (Haldi) Optional |
6 Cups | Water |
| Salt To Taste |
Method
Clean and wash rice and dal separately.
In a pressure cooker heat oil add cumin seeds. When cumin change color add garlic ginger and green chilies. Fry it for 2 minutes at low flame.
Add turmeric, garam masala, salt and coriander powder fry it for another 1 minute.
Add dal , rice and water close the pressure cooker and cook for 10 minutes or till 2 whistle. Remove the cooker from the flame.
Serve it hot with yogurt or with clarified butter (Desi Ghee).
