Upma
Thick porridge snack made from Semolina
Serving 2-4 persons
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 Cup | Rava/Soozi/Semolina |
1 Medium | Finely Chopped Onion |
1 Cup | Mixed Vegetables (Green Peas, Carrots, Green Beans) |
2 Tablespoon | Lemon Juice |
6 | Curry Leaves |
2 Tablespoon | Cooking Oil |
Dry Spices
1 Teaspoon | Mustard Seeds |
1 | Pinch of Hing |
1 Teaspoon | Sesame Seeds |
1 Teaspoon | Urad Dal without husk (White Dal) |
1 Teaspoon | Bengal Gram |
1 Teaspoon | Sugar |
| Salt To taste |
For Garnishing
2 Tablespoon | Finely Chopped Green Coriander leaves |
Method
In a frying pan heat oil add hing and mustard seeds& Sesame seeds to it. Now add Urad dal and chana dal fry it for one minute at medium flame.
Then add onions & Curry leaves to it. Fry onions till they turn golden then add salt , sugar, lemon juice and mix it well.
Now add vegetables & half cup of water to it and cook them at medium high flame for 5 minutes.
Now add 1 cup of semolina and 1 cup of water,& cook it for other 2-3 minutes while stirring it all the time. The semolina will absorb the water and upma is ready.
Remove it from the flame garnish it with green coriander and serve it with chutney and Chai.
