Rajma Masala
Red Kidney beans in thick spicy gravy
Serving 4 persons
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
2 Cups | Rajmah |
2 Medium | Onions Finely Chopped |
3 Tablespoons | Tomato Paste |
1 Tablespoon | Ginger Paste |
1 Tablespoon | Garlic Paste |
1 Teaspoon | Green Chili Paste or (according to Taste) |
0.5 Cup | Cooking Oil |
Dry Spices
1 Teaspoon | Whole Cumin |
1 Teaspoon | Garam Masala |
1 Teaspoon | Coriander Powder |
1 Teaspoon | Red Chili Powder |
| Salt To taste |
Method
Wash and sock Rajmah Overnight with 4 Times the water. You can also use canned Rajmah.
Pressure cook Rajmah For 20 Minutes at high flame in a pressure cooker.
Remove Cooker from the flame and cool it down. Once the pressure is released out of the cooker open it and check it if the rajmah is done .If it does not done you can pressure cook it for another 5-10 after adding masala to it
On the other side heat oil in a frying pan and add whole cumin to it.
When it starts pooping up add onions to it. When onions turn golden brown add green chili paste , ginger paste, garlic paste to it and keep stirring it.
Cook it for 1 minute on medium flame and then add dry masalas one by one.
Cook it for another 1 minute and add fresh tomatoes or tomato paste to it followed by 2 table spoon of water.Cook it at mediun high flame for 1 minute and then turn the flame to low and cook masala for 5 minutes.
Add a table spoon of water if masala catches the bottom of the pan.
When masala is done throw it into the pressure cooker and cook it for another 10 minutes without the lid on at medium flame
