Patra (Patid)
Gram Flour and Spices wrapped in the leaves of the Taro plant
This Dish is made in different styles in different areas of India. The recipe I am putting on the website is Pahari recipe the recipe of my grandma from Himachal Pradesh.

Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Ingredients
2 Pounds | Taro Leaves ( Aprox 20 leaves) |
3 Cups | Gram Flour (Besan) |
1 Large | Onion Chopped |
4 | Green Chilies |
2 Large | Cloves of garlic |
1 Tablespoon | Ginger Paste |
0.5 Cup | Coriander leaves (Cilantro) |
1 Tablespoon | Coriander Powder |
| Salt To Taste |
1 Teaspoon | Red Chili Powder |
3 Cups | Cooking Oil (Of Your Choice) |
Method
wash and dry taro leaves if have stems on cut them.
In a blender add onions, green chilies, garlic, cilantro , ginger and pulse it till it becomes and paste.
In al large bowl add gram flour and add the paste mix it well add some water it should be a paste neither runny not too thick.
Take one leaf and spread it on work board rub the gram flour paste on it and put another leaf over it and rub paste on the second leaf and put another leaf and repeat the process up till 9-10 leaves. Now fold it like Spring Roll or egg roll or like an Cabbage roll. Rob the paste on the outer side of the Roll.
Make another Roll repeating the same process. Steam it in a steamer for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes remove them from the steamer cool then and cut them in thin slices.
In a pan add oil and heat it. When it is hot enough fry the slices.
Serve them hot with tea and chutney or with supper as an side dish.
