Moong Dhuli
Yellow Split Moong Bean dish

Ingredients
1 Cup | Moong Dhuli (Yellow) |
1 Tablespoon | Ginger Paste |
1 Tablespoon | Green Chilly Paste or to taste |
2 Medium | Fresh Tomatoes |
0.25 Cup | Cooking Oil |
2 Tablespoons | Tomato Paste |
Dry Spices
1 Teaspoon | Whole Cumin Seeds |
1 Teaspoon | Coriander Powder |
1 Teaspoon | Garam Masala |
1 Teaspoon | Cumin Powder |
1 Teaspoon | Turmeric Powder (Haldi) |
1 Pinch | Hing Powder (Asafetida) |
| Salt to Taste |
Garnish
0.5 Cup | Finely Chopped Coriander leaves |
Method
Wash the dal and boil it in a pan with 5 cups of water till it cooks nicely. You can also pressure cook it in a pressure cooker. You can add more water according to the consistency you want.
In a frying pan heat oil and then add hing fry it for few seconds and then add cumin seeds. When starts crackling, add green chili paste, garlic paste and ginger paste. Keep Stirring the paste so it should not catch bottom of the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes at medium flame
Now add dry spices one by one and add 1/4 cup of water and mix it well and cook for another 2-3 minutes at medium flame.
Add tomato paste and cook it on medium flame when the oil starts separating from the paste Now pour it in the dal pan and mix it with the dal heat it for another minute and remove it from the flame.
Now put in a bowl garnish it with coriander leaves. It can be served with pranthas, chapattis or with rice.
