Ingredients0.5 Cup | Chana Dal / Horse Gram | 0.5 Cup | Urad Dal with husk | 1 Medium | Finely Chopped Onion | 1 Large | Fresh Tomato or Tomato Paste | 1 Tablespoon | Ginger Paste | 1 Tablespoon | Finely Chopped Green Chillies | 1 Teaspoon | Garlic Paste | 4 Tablespoon | Cooking Oil |
Dry Spices1 Teaspoon | Cumin Seeds | 1 | Pinch Hing | 1 Tablespoon | Coriander Powder | 1 Teaspoon | Turmeric Powder | 1 Teaspoon | Red Chili Powder | 1 Teaspoon | Garam Masala | | Salt To Taste |
MethodClean and wash both dals and mix them. Now in a Pressure cooker cook them with 5 cups of water for 7-8 minutes or 3 whistles'. Let it sit down till the pressure releases. In a fry pan heat oil add hing and cumin seeds and fry them till cumin changes color. Now add onions to it and fry them till onions turns golden brown. Now add ginger, garlic and chillies. Cook it for 1-2 minutes. Now add coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala, salt and turmeric powder.Now cook this masala for another 1 minute. Now add tomatoes and cook masala till it leaves the oil. Add this masala to dal. Add some butter or garnish it with cream and serve it hot with rice or chappati.
