Dal Makhani

Ingredients
1 Cup | Sabut Urd (Kalli Dal) |
0.5 Cup | Milk |
0.5 Cup | Full Cream |
1 Large | Finely Chopped Onion |
2 Tablespoons | Tomato Paste |
1 Tablespoon | Ginger Paste |
1 Tablespoon | Finely Chopped Green Chillies |
1 Teaspoon | Garlic Paste |
0.5 Cup | Cooking Oil |
Dry Spices
1 Teaspoon | Cumin Seeds |
2 | Pinches of Hing |
1 Teaspoon | Garam Masala |
1 Tablespoon | Coriander Powder |
1 Teaspoon | Turmeric Powder |
| Salt To Taste |
Method
Clean and wash dal and cook it in 5 cups of water and one tea spoon of salt in a pressure cooker for 20-25 minutes at high flame.
In a frying pan heat oil add hing cook it for 30 seconds and add cumin.When cumin changes color add onions.
Fry onions till they turn golden brown and then add chilies, garlic and ginger paste and cook it for 1 minute and then add turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt.
Cook it for 1 -2 minutes at medium flame then add tomatoes and cook masala till it separates the oil.
Open pressure cooker when all the pressure is released and add this cooked masala to it.
Add milk to dal and cook it for another 2-3 minutes without lid on and keep stirring in between and then add cream to it.
Add cooked masala to it and cook it for another 2-3 minutes and remove it from the flame.
Garnish it with cream and serve it with rice and or chapatti.
